Qualifying | Friday, September 9th: 14th Position

Kaylen Frederick completed a solid fast lap on his first run of new tires and was running 8th on live timing at mid-session. Readying for a 2nd run on his 2nd set of new tires, Kaylen had just improved his time in sector 1 when a red flag ended the session. Aborting his fast lap left Kaylen in 14th on the starting grid (13th for the Sprint race following penalties).

Race 1 Sprint Race | Saturday, September 10th

Starting Position: 13th
Finish Position: DNF
(Started 13th, advanced to 5th, punctured radiator forced retirement)

A Great Run…while it lasted! Starting in 13th Kaylen Frederick secured two positions in the opening lap and had advanced to 8th when a red flag brought out the safety car at mid-race. With yet another brilliant restart: Kaylen took 2 positions in T1 and a 3rd position in the following straight placing him 5th. Going into Turn 5 however, Prema driver Bearman moved over under braking not seeing Kaylen alongside. His rear wheel contacted Kaylen’s car and damaged the radiator. Losing coolant, the engine overheated, lost all straight-line speed and damaged the engine. Kaylen returned to the pits and classified DNF.

Feature Race | Sunday, September 11th

Starting Position:14th
Finish Position: 26th  (Started 14th, advanced to 11th, Lap 4 punctured tire forced to pit)

A Short Run!

The race action was brief for Pilot ONE Racing on Sunday. Kaylen Frederick advanced from his 14th place start position to 11th within the three opening laps. On lap 4, Kaylen had turned in from the back straight, when a lunge from a driver resulted with a puncture to Kaylen’s rear tire. Pitting for a new tire and returning to the back of the field dropped Kaylen to a 25th place finish.
